EJCBA 2025 Professionalism Seminar "Zealous" Advocacy: A Matter of Semantics or a Real Problem? The EJCBA’s 2025 Professionalism Seminar will commence with a panel discussion of the Florida Supreme Court’s 2024 decision to not remove the word “zeal” from the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar and the potential impact of same to create vexatious litigation and litigators. The panelists include The Honorable Susan Miller-Jones, The Honorable Craig C. DeThomasis, and Richard Bush, Esquire, who will offer insight as to their observations of “zealous” advocacy and the Florida Bar’s concerns that continued use of the term “zealous” provides attorneys with permission to engage in vexatious litigation. The panelists’ experiences in practice and from the bench as well as their combined leadership on Florida Bar committees promoting the importance of professionalism will provide an engaging discussion that will assist all attendees in maintaining professionalism while zealously advocating for their clients. Professionalism Seminar is approved for 3.5 General CLE hours, which includes 2.0 ethics hours and 1.5 professionalism hours Time: Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Program begins at 9:00 a.m. Members: $50, Non-Members: $100 * Deadline to Register: Friday, March 28th at Noon
